Current Exhibit
Cross+Roads, an exhibit by Danielle O’Malley, will be featured in the Linfield Gallery in the Miller Fine Arts Center at 喵咪社区 from Oct. 14 through Nov. 14, 2026. This exhibition features ceramics, textiles, and mixed media sculpture using found and natural materials. The artist will be working with students in a collaborative project to create part of this exhibition. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
Opening Reception: The exhibit will open at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, with an artist reception until 6:15 p.m. in the gallery. Light refreshments and wine will be provided. The artist will then present a slide lecture at 6:15 p.m. in Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian Bull Music Center.
O’Malley’s work is monumental in scale and symbolic message, and inventive in materials such as crocheted plastic bags, upcycled fabric, and woven flagging from construction sites. Her combinations of scavenged materials, recontextualized through textile processes with her earthen forms, are startling in scale and create a sense of urgency about the eco–crisis. O’Malley’s forms are influenced by landscapes that show nature’s magnitude and industrial objects that signal warning, which she observes daily: traps, grids, smokestacks, and fences. The confrontational feeling of larger–than–life work in one’s space is unavoidable and highlights concepts of environmental concern and warning. Exaggerated scale increases the artwork’s significance and challenges the viewer by altering the scale of familiar forms.
